“MY BRAZIL” AT THE JAZZ FORUM, TARRYTOWN, NY JULY 15

July 15, 2017 @ 10:00 pm - 11:30 pm

$20

Brazil and the various genres of music from this vast country have greatly influenced Paul Winter’s musical journey. The performance, “My Brazil,” will embrace the gamut of his favorite Brazilian music, including songs by Carlos Lyra, Edu Lobo, and Antonio Carlos Jobim; Afro-samba music of Bahia, in Brazil’s northeast; carnival songs from Rio; and music of Brazil’s great composer Heitor Villa-Lobos.

Soprano saxophonist Paul Winter is joined by percussionist Rogerio Boccato, from Sao Paulo; bassist Nilson Matta, of Rio de Janeiro (Nilson was an integral part of the album Brazilian Days, which Winter recorded with Oscar Castro-Neves in the late ’90s); and Paul Meyers, North America’s greatest Brazilian guitarist.

The concert is presented at Jazz Forum, unique new club in Tarrytown, New York. Its elegant and intimate listening room offers clear views of the performing artists from all table and bar seats. Conceived and designed by jazz trumpeter Mark Morganelli, the club features a Steinway grand piano, hand-crafted walnut bar, excellent menu, separate lounge and pool room, and a contemporary art gallery.
