The 22nd Annual Holyoke Community College Jazz Festival will be held on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23, with special guest, seven-time Grammy winner, saxophonist, composer, bandleader, Paul Winter.
FRIDAY, MARCH 22
8 p.m. Opening Concert, Leslie Phillips Theater.
Featuring guest artist Paul Winter with the Amherst Jazz Orchestra under the direction of music professor/trombonist David Sporny. Admission: $15 for adults; $10 for students and seniors; $7 for HCC community members. No reserved seating.
SATURDAY, MARCH 23
All Saturday events are free and open to the public.
All day (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)

High school jazz bands and combos, the HCC Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Improvisation Combo performances are scheduled all day, with a different group each half hour. Each group will be critiqued by professional jazz educators from our area. The events are free for observation; however, if individuals wish to participate in the workshops, a nominal registration fee will be charged. Gerry’s Music Shop will have a booth displaying instruments, music, and accessories. Various jazz combos made up of HCC festival faculty will conduct Combo Performance Workshops and Jazz Jams/discussion sessions throughout the day.
