Whether you’ve been told you “can’t carry a tune in a paper bag” or you’re a trained musician who yearns to play freely without direction from a printed page, Sound-Play is for you! This is a rare opportunity to work with Paul, whose half-century musical odyssey has taken him to concert halls in 52 countries and on recording expeditions to wilderness regions on six continents. Paul passionately believes that the same abilities that allow you to string words together on the fly can be brought into play with sounds–in a myriad of different combinations of instruments and voices. The sound-play is done collectively, in small groups, and mostly in darkness, in which self-consciousness can disappear and deep listening can come alive. This is not a “master class,” and you won’t need to perform a solo or demonstrate virtuosity. Instead, you’ll awaken your natural instinct for spontaneous expression, with discovery, joy, humor, and fun.
