SUMMARY:Showing of Pete Seeger film and reception
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday evening\, May 30 at 7:30pm\, at the Litchfield Community Center in Litchfield\, Connecticut: a premiere of three recently-produced films of performances by Pete Seeger that took place in Litchfield County.  \n\n\nIn June of 1982\, Pete came to headline Paul Winter's Living Music Festival\, at the Mohawk Mountain Ski Area\, along with the Consort\, vocalist Susan Osborn\, and the Brazilian samba band Pe de Boi. Paul engaged a filmmaker to capture the event\, with a 3-camera crew\, but the tapes then gathered dust for 33 years. After Pete's passing last year\, Paul decided  to revisit this event\, to see if it might be something that could bring the magic of Pete's music to both new and longtime listeners.\n\nThe footage was edited into  a 77 minute film of vintage Pete Seeger\, in the kind of grass-roots context where he felt at home. Paul Winter with  vocalist Susan Osborn\, cellist David Darling\, guitarists Oscar Castro-Neves and Jim Scott\, bassist Gordie Johnson\, and percussionist Ted Moore\, played repertoire from their 1978 album Common Ground.\n\nThere are also two short bonus films from other performances by Pete here in Litchfield County.\n\nThese films will be part of a new DVD to be released in companion with the remastered Grammy®-winning album Pete\, which had been recorded at Paul Winter's farm.
