SUMMARY:EVENT POSTPONED: DATE TBD - Flyways: a Musical Celebration of the Great Bird Migration
DESCRIPTION:\n\n \n\n***UPDATE: After much consideration\, this event has been postponed due to coronavirus concerns. We look forward to rescheduling the event for a later date. Please check back in for more information.\n\n \n\nFlyways: a Musical Celebration of the Great Bird Migration from Southern Africa through the Middle East to Eurasia will be presented on Thursday\, March 19 beginning at 5:00pm at the Jewish Community Center of Greater New Haven.\n\nIncluded in the presentation will be a 70-minute performance by Paul Winter\, of Flyways\, a musical chronicle of the long journey of the migrating birds using indigenous music of the 16 cultures over which they fly. The Flyways project is a collaboration between Paul\nWinter and world-renowned Israeli ornithologist Yossi Leshem. The event will also showcase the works of 15 Earth-centric artists\, whose art will be on display and available for purchase on March 19th and 22nd.\n\nTickets are $20.\n\nSpecial combo ticket for $55\, includes entrance to our event in Ansonia on March 22.\n\nMassaro Community Farm is a 57-acre organic vegetable farm on the border of Woodbridge and Ansonia. The farm sells its produce to ~225 seasonal subscribers each year\, to nearby restaurants\, and at farmer’s markets. The farm also provides educational opportunities for all ages\, and specifically for elementary-aged children who haven’t been exposed to where and how their food is grown. Expanding educational programming at the farm includes an after-school and vacation series\, field trips\, summer camp\, farm tours\, and adult workshops. The farm donates at least 10% of its annual harvest to hunger relief\, which averages 6\,200 pounds each year.
